6. FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARMENTAL ADMISSION COMMITTEE:

6.1
To process the applications received for admission by the Chairman/ Chairperson/Director.
6.2

To evaluate the applications submitted by the applicants for intradisciplinary admission considering the following criteria:

a) The applicant has a strong interest in pursuing an MS/MPhil/equivalent degree in a different discipline (refers to sub-disciplines occurring within one of the ten broad disciplines defined by UNESCO's International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED-F-2013)

b) The applicant has passed GRE-Subject/equivalent test with minimum 50% marks in the discipline of admission and has taken 6-9 CH of deficiency courses of level 6.

c) The departmental admission committee is satisfied that the applicant’s knowledge of primary area (level 6) has sufficiently prepared him or her to undertake the course of studies of the MS/MPhil/equivalent program (or, in the opinion of the departmental admission committee, the preparation can be deemed satisfactory by taking a few additional courses after starting the program).

6.3

In addition, the DAC shall be responsible to carry out the interview of the potential candidate and forward its recommendations to AS&RB regarding the teachers who will be engaged in teaching of deficient courses, timetable, mode for payment of remuneration, fee collection procedure, submission of result etc.

6.4

To propose a supervisor after completion of course work for each scholar with his/her consultations within 01 month of the third semester on the prescribed Proforma and approved procedure.

6.5 Tabulated results should be submitted within two weeks after the semester terminal examination to the Controller of Examinations. The controller of examinations will notify the results within a week after receipt of result and send a copy to all concerned.
6.6 To manage, suggest core and elective courses needed to be offered in each semester of the course work.
6.7

The DAC shall meet at least once every month to discuss the matters of concern.

6.8

To process and submit list of supervisors, detailed synopsis duly examined by DAC and defended by each scholar successfully and completed the course work.

6.9 To monitor smooth running of MS/MPhil program and to submit a progress report of each enrolled/registered scholar at the end of each semester to the Registrar through faculty Dean.
6.10

To perform overall MS/MPhil program management and monitoring.
