2. PREAMBLES TO M.Phil/MS PROGAMME OF STUDIES:

HEC Rules and Regulations will be followed in letter and spirit approved by the Statutory Bodies of this University.

2.2

 

Sixteen years of schooling or 4 years education after FA. /F. Sc (minimum 130 credit hours) in the respective subject from HEC recognized institutions will be prerequisite for admission to MS/MPhil programs. Foreign degrees equivalent to BS/BE/MA/MSc. /MCS/BSc (Hons) is also accepted for admission in MS/MPhil programs.

2.3

Minimum CGPA of 2.50 on a scale of 4.00 in BS/BE/M.Sc./MCS on semester system or 50% marks in M.A./M.Sc. in Annual System is required for admission to MS/MPhil If the scholar is being evaluated on scale of 5 or percentage then his CGPA shall be calculated considering HEC formula available on:  (https://admin.umt.edu.pk/Media/Site/UMT/SubSites/oce/FileManager/HEC/Conversion%20Formula%2030-11-2018.pdf).

2.4

All faculty Deans and Departmental Chairmen/Chairpersons/Directors will be     responsible to develop their Entry Test through PhD faculty members in their respective Department/Center/Institute for applicants and shall be conducted through UOBTS (where applicable).

2.5

The interviews for admission in MS/MPhil program of studies will be conducted by the Departmental Admission Committee (DAC). DAC will examine the applications, verify their documents in order to ensure the suitability of the candidates to pursue higher degree.

2.6

If applicant is a government servant, he/she needs to produce N.O.C., from the concerned department.

2.7

The MS/MPhil degree shall be awarded by the university not before the completion of 1.5 years or three (03) regular semesters and not after completion of four (04) years or eight (08) regular semesters.
2.8
The MS/MPhil degree program shall comprise of 30 credits hours with 24 credit hours of course work and 06 credit hours of research work (thesis).

2.9

The course work of 24 credit hours, spread over two semesters, needs to be completed during the first year of studies by each scholar, while 06 credit hours of research work/thesis spread over one or two semesters of the second year of the studies.

2.10

The number of MS/MPhil scholars under the supervision of a PhD Supervisor will not be more than 07 at a time. However, extra scholars may be accepted if the Supervisor does not have PhD scholar under his/her supervision. The maximum limit for supervision will be 12 scholars at a time.
2.11
Every Department/Center/Institute is responsible to design core and elective courses on semester system and get approval through proper channel.
2.12
75% attendance is mandatory for appearing in semesters’ final examinations for each course work.
2.13
Scholars will submit thesis along with one research paper published or accepted in any recognized journals of HEC from thesis OR must deliver seminar at the end of every semester.

2.14

A plagiarism test report of thesis is necessary through Quality Assurance and Accreditation Directorate (QAAD), University of Balochistan and must be submitted along with the submission of thesis.
2.15
MS/MPhil thesis will be evaluated by one External Examiner (from within Country) and an Internal Examiner (Supervisor).

2.16

Meet all other pre and post requirements of University of Balochistan or HEC.
